and  Bagged 10 positions under 200 mtr race-Gold medal,
100 mtr.-Silver, Long jump-silver, Discuss throw-silver
Javelin throw-Bronj, Relay race, Male & Female-Bronj, Relay race(400*4) Male-Bronj,5000mtr Male-Silver, Triple Jump-Bronj.
YOUTH FESTIVAL
In this session i.e 2010-11 in the Punjabi University Youth Festival the students begged IIIrd position in Folk Song and IInd position in Solo song.The winners participated in the Inter zonal youth festival wins silver medal in solo song.One of our student became winners of silver medal in Khuddo making in folk festival of the university
ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET

healthy.Under the guidance of our Physical education
 teacher Mr.Dalwinder singh the college organized 5th 
Annual Inter College Athletic Meet. Volley Ball, Kho kho, 
Race, Short put, Discuss throw as well as indoor games like
Chess, Carrom board etc. was organized and actively 
participated by the students. For those who were unable to 
participate in the above events, there were provisions for
funny games for them.Mr.Yograj Singh was the chief guest
where as D.S.P.Lehragaga inaugurate the programme.The
students organised 9 k.m marathon race before the event.

This is organized every year to recognize and admire the achievements
of those students who excel in Sports, cultural and academic circles.

Youth Festival
In the session 2009-10 our students participated in Youth Festival of the University in One Act Play,Poem recitation,Rangoli,Cartooning,Quiz competition and winners of one act play. The winners of one act play  participated in Inter zonal Youth Festival,P.U.Patiala and begged Best Actress title by Ms.Supreet Sharma.The staff and the students of the college participated in youth festival organized by self financed colleges of Education and winners of Quiz competition,Essay writing,Short story writing,folk song,rassa batna,Nala Bunana,poster making ,Histronics,Fulkari and Again the winners participated in Inter zonal youth festival of self financed colleges,organised by Rayat & Bahra Group of colleges,Kharar and winners of Short story and essay writing,Quiz,poster making,Histronics.

 was the chief guest and deliver the convocation address

FACILITIES

Library Facilties

The library service is one of the best among the college of education in Punjab.The students are required to make use of library facilities regularly as a part of their curricular programme.

A variety of titles by eminent Foreign/Indian writers, with reference books encyclopedia and dictionary have been kept in the library room for use of students. The library service is available up to 5 pm.

Library Rules
  1. The Library books may be retained by the students up to a period of 14 days after which they must return them. A fine of Rs.1.00 volume per day is charged for the books kept for more than 10 days after the date of issue.
  2. If a book at the time of returning to Library is found defaced or damaged in anyway, the least borrower will be required to pay its price for the damage done.
  3. Leave from the College does not imply exemption from the return of library books. The books may be returned to the library by post under registered, if necessary.
  4. The Students are expected to observe perfect silence in the Library and are expected not to disturb others in anyway.
  5. Non-Transferable Library cards are issued to all the students and books can be issued only on these cards. Students must get the identity card issued within ten days of joining the college. Two copies of their passport size photographs should be handed over to the Library. Loss of each card should be immediately reported to the Librarian who will issue a duplicate card on payment of Rs.25-00 only.
  6. The number of books that can be borrowed at a time is three.
  7. Students responsibility will not be over unit the book is shown as returned on the Library card. Student are advised to be very careful in getting the signature of the Librarian on their library card while returning books.
  8. Books borrowed from the library must be returned to the librarian and books at no account will be passed on other students .
  9. Books reserved for the staff members and reference books, text books, current periodicals will not be issued except for consultation within the library.

Dispensary Facilties

The college has dispensary of its own which is managed by a part time trained medical officer. 

Canteen Facilties

The college has a spacious, clean and well maintained canteen in the college campus. The students can sit there in the recess or in free periods.
 

Sports Facilties

There is provision for both indoor and outdoor games. The College has a well maintained sports-room. The college encourages the students to participate in the games. 
 

Indoor Games Facilties

Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis, Badminton, etc. 
 
 

Outdoor Games Facilties

Volley-ball, Kho-kho, Cricket, Tug of War, Kabbadi, Football, etc. 

Transport Facilties

Alumni Association

The Alumni Association of the college is Registered under society Registration Act XXI of 1860.Regd.No.DIC/DRA/5970. AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
  • To promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction between the Alumni and the present students of the College and between the Alumni themselves.To encourage the formation of Chapters as a means to increase participation of Alumni.
  • To encourage the Alumni to take an active and abiding interest in the work and progress of the Institute so as to contribute towards enhancement of the social utility of their Alma Mater.
  • To organize and establish scholarship funds to help the needy and deserving students.
  • To Institute prizes and awards for outstanding project work, research papers or other professional activity by the students of the Institute; also to suitably recognize outstanding social and community service by the Alumni and the students.
  • To undertake to organize activities of a civic or charitable nature as also to increase public awareness of the role of Education in value addition in the economic and social development of the nation.
  • To acquire, purchase or otherwise own or taken on lease or hire in the College City or elsewhere in Indian temporarily or permanently any movable or immovable property necessary or convenient for the furtherance of the objects of the Association.
  • To invest and deal with the funds and moneys of the Association.
  • To do all such other lawful things as are conductive or incidental to the attainment of the above objectives and/or beneficial to the interests of the Institute and its Alumni.
  • To take advantage of developing technologies like the internet in achieving the aims and objects of the Association.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

General Rules

  1. All the students are required to attend at least 200 teaching days in the session. Students failing to fulfill this condition shall not be eligible for the university examination.
  2. If student absents himself/herself from any of the house tests, held by the college for the purpose of internal assessment or if he/she fails, the Principal shall have the authority to withhold or withdraw his/her name from the university examination.
  3. At any time during the course of training, the Principal may, at his discretion, remove the name of a student from the college rolls if/she has failed to make progress in student or has been found guilty of gross misconduct.
  4. A student who wishes to withdraw from the College must do so formally in writing and his/her application should be countersigned by his/her father/guardian.
  5. Participation in curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities and games is compulsory for all the students.
  6. No student is allowed to accept any kind of employment during the course of training.
  7. Rules regarding discipline, payment of fees, grant of leave and use of library must be strictly observed.
  8. Principal has the power and discretion to impose or remit fine.
  9. During the training period no student shall attend or take part in anti- government, anti-college or any other subversive activities. THINK AND REASON: DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR SELF TO MOB MENTALLY.
  10. Political and unauthorized meeting, demonstrations of all kinds, sale and organized distribution of books, pamphlets and posters on the college premises are strictly prohibited. Defaulters will be punished.
  11. Misconduct shall be severely dealt with and may result in rustication or expulsion. A student may be called upon to withdraw from the College, if in the Principal�s opinion, his/her continued stay is not conducive to his/her well being and detrimental to the interest of the college.
  12. All breaches of college discipline and long absence without leave shall be punishable to the extent of expulsion.
  13. Every student is required to keep his/her Identity card available and should show the same on demand.
  14. Since the College work is regulated mostly through notices put up the notice board, student must look up the notice board, at least two times, once on the commencement of the day and later before their departure from the college. Ignorance about a notice shall not be entertained as an excuse for non-compliance.
  15. Smoking, use of drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the college and hostel premises during College working Hours.
 

CODE OF CONDUCT

Code Of Conduct

The institution expects its Scholars to observe the code of conduct laid for College student and to inculcate in them a habit of discipline during their stay in the college. This will ultimately shape them into responsible and useful citizens of India.
  1. The College lays special emphasis on the maintenance of discipline and necessary decorum in and outside the classrooms.
  2. Students are expected to be courteous and polite in their dealing with one another and with the employees of the College.
  3. Proper respect should be shown to the teachers and their instructions should be carried out strictly.
  4. Perfect silence should be maintained in the classes, in the library and verandahs so that none is disturbed in studies and the atmosphere in the College remain academic.
  5. Movement from one class to another should be orderly. At the end of a period, the incoming students should wait outside till the classroom has been completely vacated.
  6. Student should understand that the College property is an asset of the nation and as such it s maintenance is as much their duty as that as of administration. Therefore nobody should disfigure or damage the furniture or deface the walls with pen, pencil or chalk marks.
  7. In a vacant period, students are advised to utilize their time in the study of magazines journals and newspapers in the reading room.
  8. Students should inculcate the queue habit while they go to see the Principal, to pay dues in the Accountants Office and to get books issued from the library etc.
  9. Students found guilty of infringement of the above rules of conduct shall be Liable to heavy punishment in the form of fine or even expulsion from college, depending on the seriousness of the offence.
  10. Dress Code: All the students will attend the college in prescribed dress which will be decided on the day meeting in the college hall.
 

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

STUDENT CENTRAL ASSOCIATION

Student Central Association is constituted during the first month. The students elect President, Vice-President, Cultural Secretary (Boy), Cultural Secretary (Girl), Athletic Secretary democratically. There will also two class representatives for each section. The President may contact the Principal with regards to the redressal of their grievances/problem if any during the college hour.

MAJOR EVENTS
            The institution encourages and sponsors the teachers as well as student teachers for participation in the professional development programs i.e. seminars, conferences, workshops and Intra College and inter college competitions of academic and co curricular activities respectively.   1. The College has started H.Rai’s Memorial Scholarship, which will help and motivate the poor but laborious, honest & intelligent students.

  1. The students, whenever in need of medical aid, are provided basic first aid/treatment in the dispensary of the college and in case of seriousness of health condition taken to Zonal Hospital or private clinics and provided every possible treatment for their ailment.

  1. Teaching staff: Our teaching staff are as per NCTE norms.. The present staff has proved its devotion to profession, loyalty to the management, good rapport with the students and friendly relations with the community.

  1. The staff and the students of the college participated in youth festival organized by self financed colleges of Education and winners of Quiz competition,Essay writing,story writing,folk song,rassa batna,Nala Bunana,poster making etc.


  1. Different Co-curricular activities like Welcome ceremony, Teachers’ Day, Hindi Divas, Environment Day, Female foeticide, Study Tour, Dangers of Drugs addiction, AIDS Awareness programme,Literacy campaign, NSS Programme, Lohri etc. were also organized. All these activities were highlighted by the local press and widely acclaimed by the community.

  1.  In the teaching practice at G.S.S.S. (Boys) L.gaga, G.S.S.S. (Girls) L.gaga, Sarvahitkari school, Punjab school,L gaga, Govt.sr.sec.School,Khokhar,
            D.A.V.School,Sunam, & Govt.Girls Sr.Sec.School,Sunam   the staff and the    
            students have established very cordial relations with the staff of the above  
            mentioned schools. The students were given memorable send off. The
            administration of these schools was so impressed by the teaching of our students 
             that they wished the students of Shivam College of Education to visit their
             schools in future teaching practice.

The institution practices the best in teaching learning in collaboration with practice teaching schools, academic members, educationists, education department, alumni, and parents of student teachers and person of local administrative bodies. These are involved in positive social interaction through various prominent institutional curricular, co-curricular and extension activities.

            Thus, the institution stands out as a unique college of teacher education for its distinct emphasis on imparting the sound theoretical knowledge of curriculum subjects, teaching and training methods, including practical exposure to actual teaching with a humanistic touch to groom the student teacher to become both effective teacher and fine persons. Finally, the student teachers should be capable of carving out and drawing out the best in humans who would contribute in shaping the future of the STATE and building the GLOBAL VILLAGE.
