Dear Sir/Madam,
It gives me immense pleasure to cordially invite and welcome you to participate and share your experience in a one day seminar on “Research in Education: Concept and Implication” on 14th Dec.2013 i.e. Saturday to be organized by the Shivam P.G.College of Education, Lehra-Sunam road, Khokhar Kalan, Sangrur(Pb.)
About the Seminar:-
Research is not always a concept that practitioners, managers and policy makers respect. Too often it is seen as an academic activity conducted by others – to the profession, not with the profession.
But I believe it should be respected. In fact I’d say education professionals are always learning, finding out things, analysing information, adapting their behaviour according to information received, looking to improve and adapting to modern demands. All of this constitutes research - whether professionals want to call it that or not.
If education is not based upon research and evidence, then it runs the risk of being based upon one or more of the following:
  • Dogma
  • Theory
  • Ideology
  • Convenience
  • Prejudice
Research enables all of the above to be challenged. Basing decisions upon evidence is morally sound. Hence Educational Research can help teachers to understand what works and why, what the short and long-term implications are, provide a justification and rationale for decisions and actions, help to build a repertoire to help deal with the unexpected, identify problems, inform improvement and so forth.

                                   SHIVAM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

AN ENTERPRISE OF
GURUNANAK DEV EDUCATION & WELFARE SOCIETY

Annual report by Dr. Tapan Kumar Sahu Principal of the College on 17th
 Day of April 2013.

  1. In my capacity as the Principal of Shivam College of Education, I deem it my pride privilege to take this opportunity in extending my warmest welcome to the chief guest Sh.Paramjeet Singh Gurayan,SPD,Sangrur. I may also accord my sincerest welcome to the members of Managing Committee, members of faculty, students, respectable gentlemen and ladies who have honoured us by their gracious presence. The education has been defined in a layman language as a man making process. We, the faculty of the college are engaged in the process.

  1. Establishment of Colleges of education in Punjab in private sector by Punjab Govt. is a progressive step to produce trained, qualified, skillful, and competent teachers within the state. I am of firm belief that a teacher is always a teacher. He never retires even after he is gone; he lives in his deeds and disciples. India is a land where Guru is worshipped. We have inherited the culture in which the Guru never went to the king. It was the king who approached Guru to seek his blessings and guidance in day-to-day affairs. That you would touch a star

Everything withers in due course you know
But there is one thing always blooms as fresh as the dew
That is the Love and affection
We always have for you.”

“Aaj is waqt aap hain, hum hain
Kal hahan honge kuch kah nahin sakte
Jindagi ek aisi nadi hai
Jisme der tak sath-sath bah nahin sakte”.
